My name is Paul Thompson, and I'm the amateur astronomer who runs this website.
I started dabbling in astronomy about 7 years ago, and since then I've become a huge fan. It's a hobby that's given me thousands of hours of enjoyment.
I know there's a lot to learn about astronomy, and some of the more technical aspects of the gear and equipment can really be overwhelming. Couple that with the vast array of things to observe and photograph in the heavens, and it can sometimes feel intimidating.
But once I got the hang of it, I realized that anybody can be a successful amateur astronomer. Not only that, but it's crazy fun!
I created Super Power Optics to share all the things I've learned in the last 7 years with you and show everybody just how accessible and enriching amateur astronomy can be.
