How Does It Compare?

Orion GoScope 80mm Tabletop

Check out our full review of the GoScope here.

The GoScope could, depending on the package of accessories included with the 70eq, be a little bit more expensive, but it's hard to beat the optics at this price. The GoScope could also offer a bit more stability with its tabletop mount. While you have the option of mounting the GoScope on a full tripod, the 70eq offers a bit more in terms of a full mount and tripod, which is great for tracking. The length of the 70eq means the GoScope is more portable, so if you're looking for more of a grab-and-go telescope, the GoScope could be a better option for you.

The 114eq offers a significantly larger aperture than the 70eq, which means the 114eq is going to have brighter images and greater capacity for viewing deep sky objects. The lightweight tripod with the 114eq results in similar stability as that offered by the 70eq. Good magnification with a short tube for good portability makes the 114eq a better option for those who are looking for a more portable scope you can grab and go.

Larger aperture than the 90mm GoScope, with very good optical performance. Offers really good stability in a full-scale mount and tripod. Jones-Bird configuration on this Newtonian can lead to a bit less image clarity, but makes it a good affordable beginner scope.

Mak-Cass scope with considerable focusing range. Similar size scope, but doesn't offer the same image clarity. Similar stability with the same kind of tabletop mount. A bit more power at a comparable price point. Has a bit more complicated mechanism than the GoScope, but also a good grab-and-go or travel scope for those that want something they can take into the field or have at home for observing terrestrial and brighter celestial
